THINK LIKE AN ARTIST

A CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY DESIGN EXPERIENCE

Workshop Type – Design and craft an original pendant

“We will begin this journey in Malta’s only leather ‘bottega’, Birgu Blue. Surrounded by beauty and skill around us, we are going to dive into the artist present within all of us.” The workshops are conducted by Indian jewellery designer Sonam Sakhuja.

A glimpse of what design is and how to interpret your vision into Jewellery through it, is what this workshop is going to be all about.”

With Sonam Sakhuja, a Rome-Munich based Indian Jewellery designer, who believes stories are the main essence of jewellery.

Growing up around sculptor father and painter mother, only translated her in fashion beyond imagination, while incorporating both emotion and creation.

Description

While learning the art of creative thinking through dissecting your inspirations and mind mapping, we will begin the creation with basic sketching > wax sculpting/modelling > finishing techniques > final wax prototype.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll meet the artist within you and be rewarded with an original brass pendant designed by Sonam, along with the wax model created by you.

You may choose to make either a piece of jewellery to design using one of your own inspirations and ideas, or learn to replicate a pendant/adornment for a bag strap from my existing repertoire of jewellery designs.

The workshop will be accompanied by a presentation, where you will learn about one of the oldest metal casting techniques that is used to cast our jewellery.

Individual attention is provided to a sole participant per workshop.
